The Women of Wynnum Golf Club held their annual 'Pinko' Charity Golf Day yesterday in support of Breast Cancer Research and Patient Care Services. 148 Women and Men took to the course for a Best 2 of 4 Stableford event with lots of fun followed by lunch and presentations. Almost $6000 was raised with the cash still being counted. Overall Winners on the day with a score of 138 on count back was Sharyn King, Linda Kennedy and Karyn Milne. Jill Cole, Noela Deyude, Vivien Lewers and Mark Somerville claimed the mixed team event.

• Your GOLF Link number is now your Golf ID for life.

How to Register

1. Visit GOLF.com.au/sign-up.
2. Enter your Golf ID (previous GOLF Link number) - a verification email will be sent to the email linked with your account. 
3. Create a password and confirm your profile details.
4. Download the  Golf Australia Official app from the App Store or Google Play.

Tip: If you don't receive the Golf ID verification email, check your junk/spam folder first. If you no longer have access to the linked email, please contact the Club or golfer Onboarding Champions to update your details. Golf Australia cannot edit member email addresses directly due to privacy policy requirements. 

If you do not wish to access golf.com.au or the new Golf Australia app, no action is required.

Transition Phase 2-10 October

Wynnum Golf Club is expected to be back online from Monday 6 October, and plan to resume handicapping competition golf from this date.

Note: Some members may notice changes to their displayed GA Handicap or scoring history while the validation is completed over the transition period.

Course News

Green Playing Surface Management

The Green and Tee Spring Green Renovations have been completed, however, there is still some additional works required to polish of the renovations and to smoothen up playing surfaces. 

Over the next 2-3 weeks course staff will be applying light applications of top-dressing sand (mainly to the greens) followed by the action of rubbing-in the sand into the grass layer. Yes, there will be some disruptions to playability and we will try our best to spread the disruption out throughout the day as these tasks need to be completed. 

As always Green Staff have right of way in the performance of duties in the interests of personal safety. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this period.

Local Rule Update - Note: the Temporary Local Rule allowing preferred lies the 1st hole has been removed effective Friday 3 October, play the ball as it lies. See the Local Rules board in the Pro Shop breezeway for Local Rules and any other Temporary Local Rules.

Chipping for Charity

Guinness World Record Holder and Club Member Mick McLoughlin is engaging in another Guinness World Record attempt to hit more than 10,392 golf balls into a target zone in 24 hours to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House globally. To achieve the World Record, Mick needs balls, approximately 11,000 of them. If you have some old balls and would like help in this great cause you can leave them in the collection bin near the first tee. 

Rocky Bitossi pictured wanted to do his part to help Mick achieve the world record and raise money for Ronald McDonald House and donated 1000 balls. Rocky is 12 and attends St Joseph's Gregory Terrace and loves golf and tennis. Well done Rocky!

Note: The Hatch will be closed for the Kings Birthday Public Holiday Monday 6 October, the Clubhouse will open from 9am for Grab & Go food and beverage and the usual lunch menu offerings.

Please join us each week for the Friday Night Dining Bistro and Members Draw.  Bistro opens 5.30pm, and the Members Draw and Spruik from 7pm.

Trivia & Dinner continues every Monday in the Club, with bookings from 5.30pm.
