The new Golf Australia CONNECT platform from 2 October 2025, will also see updates to the Australian Rules of Handicapping, aligning with recent changes to the World Handicap System.

These changes are based on millions of rounds of analysis and will deliver fairer, more consistent results, reflective of actual playing conditions.

Four Key Changes

1. Greater equity in daily handicap calculations for women and girls – via a new “Consistency Factor.”

2. A fairer formula for 9-hole rounds to more accurately reflect half of an 18-hole handicap.

3. Adjusted expected scores for holes not played, using statistical modelling.

4. A refined ’Daily Difficulty’ calculation (PCC), back-calculated to 1 January 2023.

Impact on your GA Handicap Most golfers will see a small change — projected to be less than 0.5 strokes on average. Although some players may see a bigger adjustment based on their unique scoring history.

The changes are automatic within the handicap system, so golfers aren’t required to do anything else at this stage. You can read more detail about the changes on the Golf Australia website here: HERE

Note: Throughout the transition period of Monday 29 September to Sunday 5 October inclusive, competition scores score cannot be submitted for handicapping. More details to follow.

Spring Green Renovations

The spring course renovations are scheduled for Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 September with the course closed both days. During the two day closure the course team will be focused on greens first, to complete all the necessary renovations effectively and efficiently within the shortest time frame without disruption.

Once greens have been completed the focus will then be on the tee tops. The course team will perform the following very important and necessary tasks in preparation for the Spring-Summer playing season.

  • Scarifying, aeration (solid tyne), top dressing and rubbing in of top-dressing to all green surfaces (Monday & Tuesday)
  • Aeration of tee tops followed by soil amendment application, fertiliser application and top-dressing (Wednesday & Thursday)

The course staff would like to ask members to be understanding and patient in the weeks following Spring renovations as added applications of top-dressing will be required to ensure aeration holes are 100% full of turf sand and green surfaces are returned to a smooth condition. Unfortunately there will be interruptions in the following weeks after renovations during member competition play as these added top ups are necessary and can only be achieved throughout the day.

The course staff appreciate the membership's understanding regarding the course works and closure which no doubt contribute to the Board's strategy to continuously improve playing conditions of the golf course.

Many thanks and happy golfing,

Jason Adams - Course Superintendent
